About Dean R. Woodhouse and Company Information - Dean R. Woodhouse
Dean R. Woodhouse
With my Midwestern American accent, it often comes as a surprise to discover that I grew up in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire before spending over two decades living in Minneapolis, Saint Paul and briefly in Chicago.

Before leaving the USA I spent the summer in Missoula, Montana completing an intensive photography training course at Rocky Mountain School of Photography (RMSP was co-owned by Neil Chaput de Saintonge, himself a student and assistant to Ansel Adams). RMSP helped me realise how light makes the photograph. Great training in studio lighting means I no longer call myself a "natural light photographer".

I completed a BSc in IT/Graphics & Multimedia (4.0gpa (1:1), at Capella University), focusing on mastering Adobe's Creative Suite tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash). Funnily enough, I also left with 13 kilts! It seems only appropriate that I now call Scotland my home.

I offer my photography services for business, food and product photography, portraits and personal branding headshots (actors or business executives). I'm also available for shooting events and to PR, editorial, and commercial photography briefs.

I only use full-frame Canon DSLR's (including a 50 megapixel Canon EOS 5DsR), pro lenses, printers and flashes, pro-grade Elinchrom lighting (portable ELB400/Hi-Sync/Action and Style RX600 studio strobes), Lastolite, Manfrotto/Avenger and Tethertools studio gear and Pocketwizard/Elinchrom Skyport flash triggers for my work. Shooting with 35mm film (using my older Canon 1V) is still available on request.

Ordering Prints from DRWPhoto.com:

All prints obtained through the DRWPhoto website are printed by Loxley Colour (located near Glasgow, Scotland), and shipped directly to the customer. Loxley uses Fuji Professional DPII paper for both lustre and gloss finishes. Kodak Professional VC paper is used for their Metallic finish.

If you are located in North America and would like to order an image, please email me first so that I can temporarily switch the printer to White House Custom Color (located in Eagan, Minnesota, USA). WHCC has slightly different products and costs, so pricing will not match but shipping will be much faster. WHCC prints are printed on Kodak Professional Endura paper.

Please contact me if you have any issues with your order.

What paper do you use (or recommend)?

When photos were printed from film, your choices were either glossy, or matte. Today, most people prefer the look of "lustre", which is shinier than matte, but not nearly as shiny as gloss. There is also a metallic option, which makes colours pop and works well in a dark room (as it reflects more light). If you need to see examples, please visit this page at Loxley Colour.

All my images sold directly and at art exhibits/markets are printed on Canon Photo Pro Lustre paper or Epson Ultra Premium Lustre Photo Paper, printed using Canon LUCIA pigment inks. All photographs are archival grade quality and guaranteed to last over 80 years behind a glass frame or over 200 years stored in an album, without fading. Mounted photographs are on archival grade mounts/board and hinging tape - all acid free. Mounts are sold with standard sizes to fit commonly sized frames. Photographs are attached to the mounted frame using two T-hinges at the top of the image. This is intentional to help prevent the photograph buckling in the frame.

Will you take my photo off your website?

In it's simplest terms (in the UK and USA), photographers are permitted to take images of anything or anyone in a public area without having to obtain permission. The laws are no different to that of a newspaper photographer. Private property often requires a release from either persons or property (or both) shown in the images. All photographs shown on this website (excluding the customer area) were taken in/from a public area or with permission.

In light of that, if you wish any photograph of mine to be removed, please contact me with details and an explanation.

Note that I intentionally use my website for picture galleries instead of social media, to prevent people and social media platforms from simply copying and redistributing images.

Can I use a photograph of yours?

Contact me for prices. All images posted on this website can be traced when re-posted elsewhere. Automatic copyright enforcement of public facing imagery is provided by Copytrack.
